Orthodontic Treatments for All Ages in Mission Viejo

While we recommend orthodontic evaluations to begin around age seven, our modern treatments make treatment available for all ages. This allows our team to help your entire family achieve a healthier smile during every stage of life. The orthodontic services we offer include:

Invisalign® & MVS® Aligners are clear braces systems that use virtually invisible, plastic trays to straighten teeth gradually. They are often recommended for responsible teens and adults because of their removable design. When worn for up to 22 hours a day, these aligners can treat mild to moderate misalignment and bite issues effectively.

Traditional Metal Braces use metal brackets attached to the surfaces of your teeth. Metal wires, and sometimes, rubber bands are also used to help move your teeth into proper alignment. Metal braces are a reliable treatment for correcting complex bite and jaw misalignment issues.

Lingual Braces are fixed appliances like traditional metal braces. However, instead of having them on the front surfaces of your teeth, they sit on the back sides of teeth.

The Damon System uses self-ligating braces to tighten your teeth over time. Unlike traditional braces, they do not need regular adjustments to work.

SureSmile® uses tooth-colored brackets and custom ceramic wires instead of metal to straighten your teeth. This technique uses 3-D imaging, treatment planning software, and robotics to create the wires.

Six Month Smiles use clear braces to straighten the most visible front teeth in your smile in around six months. This system achieves speedy results because it is focused on addressing only the visible teeth in your smile.

How Long Will My Orthodontic Treatment Last?

Treatment time and type vary from one person to another. Often, the time needed depends on your age and the complexity of your case. If you only have a few teeth that need to be straightened slightly, treatment can take as little as six to 12 months.

Complex cases with multiple issues can take as long as two years to address effectively. Most orthodontic cases can be treated within 12 to 18 months.

If I Do Get Braces Will They Hurt?

Typically, getting braces does not hurt. However, you may feel slight discomfort for a few days as your teeth and soft tissue areas get used to your new braces.

Caring for Your Smile During Orthodontic Treatment in 7 Steps!

While undergoing treatment, you can make sure your smile remains clean and healthy by doing the following:

  1. No matter which orthodontic treatment you have, always brush your teeth twice a day and floss once a day.
  2. Make sure to rinse with mouthwash to help get rid of food debris and bacteria.
  3. If you take out your aligner or retainer to eat, clean it with warm water, a toothbrush, and toothpaste.
  4. Do not put your aligner or retainer in boiling water or the dishwasher!
  5. Try to avoid sugary foods. These can increase bacteria in your mouth, causing plaque buildup and possibly cavities.
  6. Avoid sticky and chewy foods, hard foods, or any foods that could get stuck in your fixed braces. Corn on the cob, soft bagels, ribs, and taffy candy need to be avoided.
  7. Always attend your routine cleanings and examination every six months.
